Delamination: layers that split apart
Layers don’t fuse well and the part breaks along the print lines.
Causes
- Temperature too low
- Fan too high
- Wet filament
- Drafts or a cold chamber (ABS, ASA)
- Layer height too high
Fixes in order
- Raise the temperature 5–10 °C.
- Reduce the fan: PETG 30–50%, ABS and ASA 0–15%.
- Dry the filament.
- Close the chamber and preheat for 10 minutes.
- Keep layer height under 75% of the nozzle.
- Reduce speed by 20%.
Common mistakes
- Fan at 100% on PETG, ABS or ASA
- Using old, wet filament
- Adding infill instead of improving layer fusion
